Case Study Pointe Coupee Parish
MIS was hired to install two new HP servers and an HP MSA SAN. All of the equipment was used to build a new virtual environment with high availability. MIS then decommissioned the existing eight physical domain controllers and simplified to an all-virtual server environment.
Overview
Tier 3 Network Support
Pointe Coupee Parish schools were in need of Tier 3 Network Support. The goal was to augment the existing staff skills and provide management and resolution to complex tasks.
Network Support
Pointe Coupee Parish Schools had internal staff members directly responsible over desktop support for all the organization's computer systems. The MIS team was consulted and hired to rebuild and update all servers, which were over eight years of age and running older versions of Windows.
Solution
New Virtual Environment
The new servers were put into a virtual environment with high availability. Our team decommissioned the existing eight physical domain controllers to simplify the environment to two virtual domain controllers. Redundant DHCP was implemented, and operating systems where brought up to server 2016. MIS setup new distributed file system servers and print servers utilizing the new Windows Server 2016.
Over a period of two months, our team took PCP's outdated equipment and software, to a completely up-to-date environment.
Since the original implementation, the network has increased in stability.
MIS was also chosen to implement a Jive-hosted PBX for PCP.
This deployment consisted of over 200 phones, located at 7 different locations.
The MIS team performed the entire conversion project from the existing premise-based systems. MIS support staff managed the porting of all phone numbers from the old system to the new system. MIS currently provides all regular support to Pointe Coupee for any phone system-related request.
